Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of spreading untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
